Alan Williams became the first player to complete the St Giles “Grand Slam Of Golf” in the club’s 121-year history.
Williams won the 36-hole Woosnam Cup back in May to complete the first leg and then went on to win the 36-Hole Strokeplay Championship in June, his fourth time in five years.
He was then crowned the Morley Hughes Matchplay Champion and then completed the “slam” by picking up the Club Championship to secure this historic achievement.
Williams also lifted the Llewellyn Cup, The Windsor Cup, The Centenary Cup, The Infirmary Cup and was quite rightly crowned the St Giles Golfer of the Year for 2016.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, Mikey Murray and father-in-law J.R. Davies picked up the first Turkey of the Christmas competitions by winning the four ball better ball event.
They combined to produce a tremendous nine-under 61 to bag the bird at the expense of George Evans and Gary Kruger who also shot the same score but lost on the back nine.
Third went to Andrew Dowell and Mike Davies who finished a shot further back on 62.
